THE Government of Malaysia has identified the aerospace industry as one of the strategic sectors to be progressed and developed in the country. In line with this national aspiration, it is necessary to establish a local pool of experienced and skilled aerospace design engineers with the appropriate capacity for design, analysis and development of aircraft and aircraft related components conforming to internationally acceptable standards. Aviation Design Centre Sdn. Bhd. (ADC) was thus instituted in 1997 with the aim of sustaining the growth of the aviation industry and promoting advanced aerospace technology in Malaysia.

THE founding of ADC as an organisation stemmed from a proposal by SME Industries (SMEI) to the Government to establish a national aviation design centre in meeting the growing needs of the aerospace sector in the country. In September 1996, the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) in the Prime Minister’s Department approved the SMEI proposal and funding was subsequently granted to officially establish ADC. ADC operates as a company on its own to provide design support to the aerospace industry whilst maintaining a close association with NADI, AIROD, SME Aviation, SME Aerospace and ATSC.

In 2008, ADC has registered with Malaysia Ministry of Finance (MoF) under Aerospace Consultancy category.

ADC seeks to position itself in the forefront of aerospace advancement in Malaysia by striving to be the premier centre that acts as a catalyst to steer the country’s aerospace industry towards becoming an internationally recognised hub for excellence in design and development. The company aims to fulfil the following objectives:

  • Provide design, research and development services for aircraft structural design, analysis and repair, manufacturing and modification/upgrade programmes.
  • Compliance to the Malaysian Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) and other agencies’ Regulatory Airworthiness requirements in conducting design activities.
  • Facilitate technology and knowledge transfer between external specialists and the local industry in aerospace/aviation development.
  • Develop human resources and collaborate with Academic Institutions to promote aircraft design expertise.
